Seek the QR codes and discover the story behind the buildings and the park

How does it work?

A QR-code gives you information you can scan with the camera of your mobile phone.

At dozens of spots in Westergasfabriek Culture Park, on buildings and in the park, you’ll find QR codes on signs. If you take a picture with the camera on your phone, you can scan the code and read information about the relevant building or development of the Culture Park on your phone screen.

For instance, if you scan the sign by the Gasometer, you can read about what this building was used for when it was part of the factory. And by the large pond, you can find out more about the ingenious water system of the modern Culture Park. More than 30 spots are provided with descriptions.

Does it work on all phones?

In order to use the QR codes, your phone has to have a camera, QR scanning software and internet access. The latest phones often have a QR-code scanner installed.

Download free QR codes software

Don’t you have a QR scanner on your mobile? Then download the free software through this link. Your mobile will automatically be recognised and will refer you to the right download link. Beware, not all phones are recognised, especially older models.

TIP! Use your free WIFI in Westergasfabriek

Select WIFI network 'STARTQR' (free acces).

The QR codes can be accessed in two ways. Using the mobile network on your phone, but using the free WiFi at Westergasfabriek. By using the WiFi you can be sure that no extra costs are involved in using the QR codes.

"Urban Park Laboratorium"

This project is part of the development of Westergasfabriek as an “Urban Park Laboratory”. Not only the QR codes but also screens, a time viewer, multimedia walls and narrative chairs communicate the rich creative life and the energy of the Culture Park.
